You might be able to see The Huron Island Light flashing from the rocky freshwater archipelago located about seven miles beyond the end of the peninsula. These islands are named the Huron Islands in honor of the Hurons who once lived in the area - and are a national wildlife area. Each side of the Peninsula has its own special features -- There are stunning sunset views on the west side, clear-day views of the Keweenaw Peninsula to the north, and those views of the Huron Islands and Huron Mountains from the east side. Lake Superior fishing for salmon, whitefish and lake trout abounds on either side! Another local pass time here is nature photography, and you'll have opportunities for that here year round!
